An advocacy training workshop for the multi-stakeholders was held on the 12th of February 2023 in Kurunagala. Twenty-four participants including members of government institutions, NGO members, and CSo group leaders have participated in the programme. The programme was facilitated by Mr. Basil Fernando, Mr. Mangala Fernando, and Mrs. Inoma Karunatilake. This session featured the participatory technique, with conversations, group discussions, and presentations, as well as videos and explanation sessions. The key upshot of this session was that they came up with suggestions for police, judiciary, and constitutional reforms as a group. One of the main outcomes of this programme was that three participants, including one government official, requested RLF books for their community libraries. Also, many participants, especially the youth, requested more training on this subject as they wanted to conduct further programmes in their communities.
Almost all the participants actively participated in the discussion, sharing their own life experiences. The success of this session can be attributed to the fact that it not only provided a platform for participants to voice their opinions and experiences but also empowered them to take action towards creating positive change in their communities. The enthusiasm and engagement demonstrated by the participants highlight the importance of continued support and resources for grassroots initiatives aimed at promoting social justice and equality.
